    Designed to educate students on navigating through business practices as it pertains to creating and executing contracts through negotiations. Students will develop a solid understanding of the contracting process and key elements of procurement and acquisition, including contract formation, negotiation, financial analysis and risk management. Basic differences between contract types and how they are selected to mitigate risk in a contractual environment will be explored, as well as identifying the key distinctions between commercial, government, and international contracting process. Key concepts for building good business relationships and dealing with obstacles in the negotiation process will be discussed.

    Combines project-based field experience with selected resources, assignments, and self-assessments to build real-world professional competencies. The field experience consists of a project that reinforces and extends the student’s academic work. Providing economic, environmental, and social value to organizations and communities is emphasized. Course meetings and activities are built around learner-centered reflection, field experiences, peer discussions, and project progress reports.
