The Wilderness Medical Professional COP provides students with the comprehensive educational certificates for entry into the wilderness EMS job force. The certificate can be offered as an accelerated, block-style course over 6 weeks. Course instruction will include a combination of learning styles including online work, video-conference sessions, in-person lab sessions, and a 4-full day clinical rotation. This certificate can be offered in both traditional semester and accelerated formats.
Students must be 18 years old by the first class and have a high school diploma or high school equivalency. Students must demonstrate college-level proficiency in composition and reading and must have basic computer skills, including the ability to navigate, use email, send attachments, and must have DSL or high-speed internet access.
CPR certification is included in the coursework. Drug screening and background checks are mandatory for clinical rotations.
Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Wilderness Medical Professional.
