Information Technology
The following certificates (A+, CCNA, Network+, Security+, and Server+) are designed to prepare students for skills upgrade or entry-level careers in various information technology fields. These certificates provide students with the knowledge and hands-on skills to build, secure, and manage local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs), learn Microsoft Office computer skills, and how to protect vital information. Additionally, some certificates provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pass specific industry certifications, such as Comp TIA A+, Network+, Security+, Server+, and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
This certificate curriculum includes many of the courses included in the Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology Specialist and credits may be applied toward that degree.
Students may need to demonstrate college-level proficiency in reading and mathematical skills before entering these programs. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete the program. See the Academic Placement and Testing section.
Graduates of these programs will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in the specific areas listed below.
