This certificate program will provide the concepts of automatic control, industrial electrical operations, and safety considerations for those employed in the field of industrial instrumentation. Process characteristics, control applications, and an introduction to standard instrument symbology, terminology, P&IDs and loop drawings will be presented. Topics include pneumatic, electronic, digital, and mechanical devices and systems.
Students must demonstrate acceptable proficiency levels in composition, reading, and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Automation and Instrumentation. Please see your advisor for a recommended sequence of courses.
