◆ MAT 120 - Mathematics for the Liberal Arts (GT-MA1)4.0 Credits Prerequisites: Next generation Accuplacer Quantitative Algebra and Statistics (QAS) scores 240-300; or equivalent ACT/SAT scores; or passed MAT 050 or MAT 055 with a C- or higher. The college may also use previous academic history, including high school information, for placement. Students who do not meet placement criteria for MAT 120 are strongly encouraged to enroll in MAT 050 prior to MAT 120 or MAT 110 (co-requisite for Math for Liberal Arts) concurrently with MAT 120, and to consult with math faculty or a CMC advisor for assistance in choosing the option that best fits their needs.
Highlights connections between mathematics and the society in which we live and is intended for liberal arts majors. Topics include set theory and logic, mathematical modeling, probability and statistical methods, and consumer mathematics. This is a statewide Guaranteed Transfer course in the GT-MA1 category.
