◆ COM 220 - Intercultural Communication (GT-SS3)

Prerequisites: Accuplacer Sentence Skills (SS) score of 95 or higher and Reading Comprehension (RC) score of 80 or higher; or Next Generation Accuplacer Writing scores 246-300; or equivalent ACT/SAT scores; or passed CCR 092 , CCR 093 , CCR 094 , or ENG-090 with a grade of C- or better. The college may also use previous academic history, including high school information, for placement.
The course explores the link between culture and communication and will develop and/or enhance communication skills and the abilities appropriate to a multicultural society. Emphasis will be on understanding diversity within and across cultures. Relevant concepts include perception, worldview, context, ethics, language, and nonverbal communication.
