◆ MAT 135 - Introduction to Statistics (GT-MA1)3.0 Credits Prerequisites: Accuplacer Elementary Algebra (EA) score of 61 or higher; or Next Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics (QAS) scores 240-300; or equivalent ACT/SAT scores; or passed MAT-050, MAT-055, or MAT-099 with a C- or better; and Accuplacer Sentence Skills (SS) score of 95 or higher and Reading Comprehension (RC) score of 80 or higher; or Next Generation Accuplacer Writing scores 246-300; or equivalent ACT/SAT scores; or passed CCR 092 , CCR 093 , CCR 094 , or ENG-090 with a grade of C- or better. The college may also use previous academic history, including high school information, for placement. Introduces descriptive and inferential statistics, with an emphasis on critical thinking and statistical literacy. Topics include methods of data collection, presentation and summarization, introduction to probability concepts and distributions, and statistical inference of one and two populations. This course uses real world data to illustrate applications of a practical nature. This is a statewide Guaranteed Transfer course in the GT-MA1 category. Prev.
