Bachelor of Arts Degrees
The Bachelor of Arts degree program offers a liberal arts education that includes the Colorado State Guaranteed General Education Curriculum. This curriculum includes 31 credits minimum of general education classes across five content areas, plus 3 credits of communication. These are the same basic general education requirements in our Associate of Arts degree program at Colorado Mountain College. Some specific degree programs may have additional general education requirements (consult an adviser or the catalog for more information).
The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed to offer a variety of students from diverse backgrounds and academic interests the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree. Students who have earned their associate’s degree at CMC, or other community colleges in Colorado, will have an easier pathway to complete their bachelor’s degree program because they will have already met several degree requirements such as the speech communications requirement and certain general education prerequisites that are important for student success.
There are two admission opportunities for pursing a bachelor’s degree at Colorado Mountain College. Enroll as a freshman and complete an associate’s degree (AA, AS, AGS, or AAS) as part of your bachelor’s degree, and you will have completed your first two years. As a transfer student, submit official college transcripts from your previous schools, and enroll with advanced standing. In order to be eligible to register for 300 and 400-level classes, you must have, 1) completed 45 credit hours (at CMC or in transfer), and 2) have a 2.3 cumulative grade point average.
The prerequisite pathway under the 2014/15 catalog for the Bachelor of Arts degree includes these elements: 1) an associate’s degree from an accredited institution before a student can enroll in more than 15 upper-division credits at CMC; 2) course prerequisites must be completed before a student can enroll in upper-division courses; 3) for transfer credit, upper-division course requirements must be earned through an accredited four-year program as upper-division coursework; 4) if an approved emphasis area or concentration is pursued, all requirements for that emphasis or concentration must be completed prior to awarding the degree; and 5) specific courses that fulfill the general education requirements may be stipulated by the specific bachelor’s degree program. Students are encouraged to seek advising on meeting course prerequisites and other degree requirements.
Bachelor of Arts Degree Requirements
The Bachelor of Arts degree requires taking at least 120 credits from among general education courses and specific core degree requirements and program electives as per the Colorado Department of Higher Education guidelines. Students who have earned an AA or AS degree and earned a C or better in all courses shall be fully considered for admission into the BA program. Under the state transfer guidelines for AA and AS degrees, if offered admission, you will enter with a junior standing and will be required to take 60 more credits to earn your bachelor’s degree. (Students matriculating from an AGS or AAS program will probably need more than 60 credits to earn a bachelor’s degree.) Students who do not fully complete AA or AS degree requirements will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis and may lose transfer credits depending on their previous course of study. Therefore, students from other colleges are best advised to complete their associate’s degree from their home institution. Individual courses may transfer and count towards specific degree requirements for a four-year degree, but the transferable courses are limited to the course equivalents of the courses specified in the curriculum of the four-year degree program.
To graduate, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 (“C” average) or “P” (passing) or better on all courses taken at Colorado Mountain College. At least 80 percent of the semester credits applied toward graduation must be letter graded.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing- RN to BSN program is an academic progression model that builds upon nursing knowledge and clinical experiences gained in the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program. The curriculum in CMC’s RN to BSN program was created using an academic progression model and evidence-based research aimed to enhance the professional practice of its graduates and prepare them for this fast-paced environment. To be eligible for the RN to BSN degree program, you must have completed an Associate’s degree or accredited diploma program in Nursing and have a current professional nursing license to practice as an RN.
The RN to BSN program has been approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The nursing program has been granted Candidate Status for the Baccalaureate Nursing program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and is in process with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
The BSN program consists of 122 college-level credits. Students may be given up to 72 credits for their prior Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program towards the 122 credit total required. All students will have the same course requirements regardless of the college they received their Associate Degree from. The BSN program curriculum is designed to be completed in four semester’s full time or six semester’s part time.
The admission requirements for all Bachelor’s degrees are: 1) applicants for CMC Bachelor’s programs must have a minimum of 45 college-level semester credit hours; 2) applicants must be in good standing with the last institution attended, including CMC, with a minimum 2.30 cumulative grade-point average and 3) applicants who do not meet the minimum credit hour of grade point average requirement will be reviewed by the CMC Admissions Committee under the state transfer window exception. For admission into the CMC BSN program students are required to 1) have an unencumbered registered nurse license in Colorado or a compact state RN liscense; 2) have graduated from an accredited (ACEN) Associate Degree in Nursing program.
Graduation Requirements for the BSN is as follows: 1) complete a minimum of 122 semester hours of the required college-level coursework with a cumulative GPA of 2.3 or higher for CMC hours attempted and included in the GPA computation for graduation; 2) completion of 34 credits of required upper-division Nursing courses and 6 credits of advised upper division elective courses (300 and 400 level courses); 3) students must earn a minimum of 30 upper-division credits required for the degree from CMC with a minimum of 2.3 GPA; 4) complete all required nursing prerequisite courses, program coursework, electives and support courses; and 5) complete all requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. At least 80 percent of the semester credits applied toward graduation must be letter graded.
