Bachelor of Applied Science

The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Leadership and Management is designed to prepare individuals as managerial and supervisory personnel in a variety of professions. The program provides a career and educational pathway for students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in a career or technical field from a regionally accredited college. The program requirements are designed to build upon technical specialties and general education courses by combining them with upper-division coursework to acquire management, supervision, and leadership skills.

The BAS in leadership and management includes courses in organizational leadership, negotiating, finance and budgeting, management, marketing and ethics. Elective choices include additional courses in management, information technology, accounting and communications.

The BAS is a solid, broad-based program which prepares graduates for career promotions and advancement is a wide spectrum of managerial and supervisory positions in a variety of organizations. 

The pre-requisite pathway for the Bachelor of Applied Science degree includes these required elements:

  • Students must have completed an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a specific discipline from a regionally accredited institution with 60 credits minimum
  • The lower-division courses must be completed before a student can enroll in more than 15 upper-division credits at Colorado Mountain College
  • Course pre-requisites must be completed before a student can enroll in upper-division courses
  • Transfer credit upper-division course requirements must be earned through an accredited four-year program as upper-division coursework
  • Specific courses that fulfill the general education requirements may be stipulated by the specific bachelor degree program.
  • To graduate, you must have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 (“C” average) or “P” (passing) or better on all courses taken at Colorado Mountain College

The Associate of Applied Science degree course requirements for lower-division courses will be awarded as block credit transfer credits (60 credits minimum). Please work with a CMC adviser on course selection to fulfill degree requirements in order to move seamlessly from the AAS and into the BAS.

The Bachelor of Applied Science degree is offered at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, Edwards, Glenwood Springs, and Colorado Mountain College Online.

Program Requirements/Electives


(27 Credits)

Students must complete the following courses if not already taken as part of their AAS degree. If taken as part of the AAS degree, they do not count toward the BAS. The BAS must include 60 additional credits. Students who have already completed these courses do not need to repeat them but can instead fulfill the requirement by taking advised elective courses meeting the following criteria: Any 100-499 course from Guaranteed Transfer (◆), General Education Transfer (✽), or from a CTE (Career & Technical Education) program. No more than 2 credits can be from PED/OUT/DAN. It is highly recommended that students seek academic advising in their degree planning.
