Picture of an iPhone and iPad used for the New Media (AAS) degree at CMC.The Digital Media program prepares graduates to be competitive in a rapidly evolving world where diverse forms of media increasingly converge to enable new modes of communication - new media.  The U.S. Department of Labor projects that by 2018 ninety-one percent of information services and related electronic communications jobs will require at least some post-secondary education.  Digital Media degree and certificate programs  (Digital Media Production, Digital Media Marketing, and Digital Media Journalism) prepare students to compete successfully in the new economy, helping them develop business and entrepreneurial skills.  Internships provide a doorway into the working world and a network of media professionals for Digital Media graduates.  At the culmination of the program, students have the opportunity to intern with a wide variety of media organizations.

The Digital Media AAS degree combines required general education and a core of required courses as well as three “tracks” or areas of emphasis in addition to the certificates.  These emphasis areas include Digital Media Production, Digital Media Marketing, and Digital Media Journalism, giving students a choice to meet their career goals.

Students must demonstrate college-level proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematical skills before entering this program.  Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program.  See the Academic and Placement Testing  section.

Graphic Design (MGD) courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher to move to the next course in the sequence and to satisfy graduation requirements.

The Isaacson School for New Media at Colorado Mountain College has many scholarships available.  See the Scholarships  section for more information.

Graduates of the program will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in Digital Media.

The Digital Media program is offered at Colorado Mountain College in Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, and Glenwood Springs-Spring Valley, all part of the Roaring Fork Campus, as well as Colorado Mountain College in Aspen.  For details consult a Colorado Mountain College adviser.

The Isaacson School for New Media at Colorado Mountain College is devoted to preparing students to be competitive in the rapidly changing fields of Photography, Digital Media, and Graphic Design.  These three fields span the creative process from ideation, visualization, content creation, delivery, and promotion.  Our students are working together to tell media-rich stories across all three curricula.
