Resort Management (AAS)

Picture of a possible resort job with a Resort Management (AAS) degree from CMC.The resort and lodging industry is one of the major growth industries of this century. Through the Resort Management program you will prepare for careers in management, resort operations, marketing, sales, property management, restaurant operations, and many related areas. The Resort Management program gives basic instruction in resort and lodging operations, resort specialty subjects, management concepts, accounting, and related resort work experience.

Students must demonstrate college-level proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence in which you can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. For more details, please see the Academic Placement and Testing  section.

Graduates of the program will be eligible to receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Resort Management from Colorado Mountain College. You may also be eligible to receive the Educational Institute of American Hotel and Lodging Association’s Hospitality Management Diploma. Additionally, Colorado Mountain College and Western State College have signed an agreement that allows students in the Resort Management degree to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in either Marketing or Management. Please consult with your adviser about requirements for these options.

Many of the courses in the Resort Management program are designed to transfer to baccalaureate degree granting institutions; see your adviser for detaills and for a recommended sequence of courses.

The Resort Management degree is offered at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs and Edwards. CMC also offers certificates in Hospitality Operations  and Spa Management .

Program Requirements


The following courses fulfill the program requirements for the AAS Degree in Resort Management ; additionally these courses comprise the Certificate of Completion in Hospitality Operations. They are also the emphasis area of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA)  degree when used in conjunction with those requirements. Please work with your adviser on course selection to fulfill degree requirements in order to move seamlessly from the Hospitality Operations Certificate to the AAS Resort Management and into the BSBA with an Emphasis in Resort Management.
