✽ Addiction Studies Emphasis (AA)

The Associate of Arts with an emphasis in Addiction Studies prepares the graduate for working in a range of treatment settings and with a variety of addictive behaviors. This program is designed for students interested in helping others apply motivational and resilience skills with particular focus on addictive behaviors.

The program provides students experiential, science-driven learning within the addiction field. Students learn core competencies for behavioral and counseling work and will be engaged in clinically supervised settings to reach the benchmarks for the Certified Addiction Technician as outlined by the Colorado Handbook for Addiction Counselors.

By completing this degree, the student will gain the coursework needed to apply for the Certified Addiction Technician certification as well as an Associate of Arts with an emphasis in Addiction Studies. Completion can also lead to a bachelor’s degree track in Human Services, mental health, counseling, or psychology. Completion also aligns with the prerequisites needed for a Certified Addictions Specialist and Licensed Addiction Counselor. Courses in this emphasis can also apply to CMC’s Bachelor of Arts in Human Services .

This program is available at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge, Carbondale, Dillon, Glenwood Springs, Rifle, Steamboat Springs, Spring Valley at Glenwood Springs, and Vail Eagle Valley at Edwards using technology-enhanced modalities. For additional program location & modality information, please see Academic Programs at Colorado Mountain College.
