The Forestry Technician program is designed to provide training and education that will lead to entrylevel, seasonal positions with federal, state, and private land management agencies. The required courses will improve student knowledge of and abilities to manage the natural environment as it relates to the recreation industry, forest health, natural history interpretation, backcountry travel, timber management, conservation, and wildfire suppression.
Students must demonstrate an acceptable proficiency level in reading as a prerequisite for courses within this certificate. Skills in this area may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency as a Forestry Technician.
