✽ SOC 201 - Introduction to Gerontology3.0 Credits Prerequisites: SOC 101 , SOC 102 , PSY 101 , or PSY 102 with a grade of C- or higher. Acquaints students with the major issues and concepts pertinent to the field of gerontology. The course introduces various theoretical perspectives on aging, the changing trends in life expectancy and other demographic considerations, and the inter-relationship between elders and key social institutions. It provides an overview of physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional factors associated with aging. LEC 45 Contact hours
