NUR 212 - Clinical V: Complex Medical-Surgical Nursing Experience3.0 Credits
Integration of the theoretical basis for safe, quality, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care covering a variety of illnesses affecting patients and their support persons. Covers nursing care that is developmentally and culturally appropriate in an acute care setting. Emphasis on the legal and ethical responsibilities of the roles of the professional nurse. Also focuses on collaboration with members of the interprofessional healthcare team to provide and improve patient care. Provides experiences to assist students to develop a professional identity emphasizing the nurse’s role as manager of care. Applies communication theory when interacting with patients as well as using information technology to locate, use, and communicate patient care information.
