Acquisition of the general principles of pharmacology as they relate to safe, quality, patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care of individuals focusing on developmentally and culturally appropriate interventions. Introduces pharmacotherapeutics related to diverse patient populations. Focuses on safety and quality improvement in the administration of medications to patients across the life span and analyzes the impact of the healthcare environment on the nurse’s role in administring medications. Includes instruction on dosage calculations and psychomotor skills related to medication administration.
