Human Services (BA)

The Bachelor of Arts in Human Services at Colorado Mountain College provides a strong foundation for meaningful, people-centered careers as well as a deep understanding of human behavior and social systems. This degree prepares graduates for entry-level positions in a wide range of helping professions and serves as an excellent pathway to graduate study in psychology, social work, counseling, addictions, behavioral health, and public health. Graduates of the Human Services program develop versatile, in-demand skills that open doors across diverse professional settings, including businesses, schools, hospitals, counseling centers, government agencies, judicial services, private practices, and community-based organizations.  Some career pathways of this degree include mental health, addiction recovery, law enforcement support, child advocacy, family services, community corrections, and case management.

Beyond career preparation, the program also emphasizes personal and professional growth. Through a blend of classroom instruction and real-world experiences, graduates master scientifically grounded practices that promote resilience, empowerment, and personal growth.

The Bachelor of Arts in Human Services degree program is completed through a combination of In-Person courses, at a CMC campus, and Remote Real-Time courses. Approximately 60% of coursework is available in a Remote Real-Time format, allowing students to participate virtually, while the remaining 40% is offered in person at the following campuses: Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Springs, Rifle, and Vail Valley at Edwards. For additional program location & modality information, please see Academic Programs at Colorado Mountain College.

CMC’s BA in Human Services program offers concentrations in Psychology, Outdoor Psychology, Community and Organizational Leadership, and Addictions Studies, allowing students to tailor their education to their interests and career goals. With the exception of CSL courses, no more than 6 electives credits may be from the same academic area (Prefix). It is highly recommended that students seek academic advising to support their degree planning.
