The Information Technology Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and Certificates of Occupational Proficiency are designed to prepare students for entry-level IT positions. Students pursuing these certificates and associate degree will receive training through classroom and online, virtual activities and labs to acquire the essential skills of how to build, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot PCs, servers, LANs, and WANs. Most courses provide students with the knowledge and skills to pass specific IT industry certifications, such as:
- Comp TIA: A+, Net+, Security +, Hybrid Server Pro, CySa+ Ethical Hacker Pro, CyberDefense Pro, Tech+
- Cisco: CCNA
The AAS degree combines general education courses, which lead to a COP in Essential Skills (15 credits) along with IT program core requirements (27 credits) and three emphasis areas (19-20 credits) to select from:
- Hardware/Networking
- Cybersecurity
- Programmer Developer
Students must demonstrate college-level composition, reading, and mathematical skills as pre-requisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students enroll and may also extend the time required to complete the program. Graduates of the program earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Information Technology Specialist with an emphasis in Networking/Hardware.
