Students pursuing this pathway will earn a BA in Education from Colorado Mountain College.
CMC’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) program provides a stackable credential pathway into the BA in Education. The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher (ECAT) certificate stacks into the Early Childhood Teacher Certificate (ECT). Both then stack into the Associate of Arts with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education (AA ECE).

This pathway satisfies Colorado Department of Education (CDE) requirements for their Early Childhood Endorsement as long as the 9 electives taken for the AA ECE are ECE 2051 , ECE 2651 , and ECE 2088 . All ECE endorsement courses at CMC are specifically designed to satisfy CDE’s requirements. This impacts transfer and substitution requests. While the AA ECE described above meets the ECE endorsement requirements through CDE, it is not a stand-alone credential and is only awarded upon completion of the BA in Education.
The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) has approved this pathway for a teaching license in Colorado and includes courses to support students in demonstrating professional competency for the following endorsements:
- Elementary Education
- Early Childhood Education
Students who have attained an Associates of Arts with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from CMC or any other Colorado Community College have a clear path to complete this Bachelors of Arts in Education pathway.
