Ecosystem Science & Stewardship Emphasis (AS)

The Associate of Science with emphasis in Ecosystem Science & Stewardship (ESS) combines a spectacular place, classrooms without walls, and experienced staff and faculty. The first year of this emphasis is the same as the first of the Ecosystems Science & Stewardship (BS) , and is designed to enable students to declare the BS within the freshman year. The AS with emphasis in Ecosystem Science & Stewardship can generally be transferred to a bachelor’s program to another 4-year college or university. The unique curriculum focuses on foundational course work with integrated real-world and experiential learning that connects students with field learning and internship opportunities, helping students to build field and research skills, connect classroom learning to applied projects, and prepare them for seasonal entry-level positions with non-profit, private, and governmental organizations.

Students must demonstrate college-level proficiency in composition, reading, and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this emphasis. Successful students will earn an Associate of Science Degree with an emphasis in Ecosystem Science & Stewardship. 

The Associate of Science Degree with an emphasis in Ecosystem Science & Stewardship is offered at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge, Dillon, Leadville, Steamboat Springs, Glenwood Springs at Spring Valley, and Vail Valley at Edwards.
