The Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrated Sustainability (BAIS) is a solution-oriented, flexible, interdisciplinary program. The BAIS is best suited for students interested in creating solutions with a focus on climate action, social innovation, and community regeneration.
Students learn to design social systems that synergize with Earth’s systems, and how to drive social change that advances sustainability.
The Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Sustainability prepares students for professional careers in the rapidly growing and dynamic field of sustainability. Students gain the skills and competencies to create sustainable futures working with communities, nonprofits, governments, businesses, and collaborative networks. They develop personal resilience and leadership skills while developing practical solutions to environmental, social, and economic challenges.
The Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Sustainability includes opportunities for experiential learning and internships, study abroad, a Certificate in Permaculture Design, and the option to pursue a concentration in Humans and Resilient Communities, Sustainable Business, or a minor in Ecosystem Science and Stewardship. The requirements for each of these concentrations and minor are included below.
The Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Sustainability is open to remote learners, or courses may be taken in person at Colorado Mountain College in Breckenridge, Spring Valley at Glenwood Springs, Steamboat Springs, and Vail Valley at Edwards. Some courses may require limited in-person experience-based attendance. Some courses may not be offered in-person at all of the above campuses.
