This Carpentry Basic certificate is the first of two Certificates of Occupational Proficiency in Carpentry: Basic and Advanced. The Carpentry Basic Program will prepare students for a career in the Carpentry and Construction Industry. Areas of instruction are orientation to the craft, building materials, fasteners, adhesives, hand and power tools, intro to construction drawings (specs and layouts), floors, wall systems, ceiling joist and roof framing, building envelop systems, basic stair layout, commercial drawings, steel framing, exterior finishing, thermal and moisture protection, roofing applications, doors and door hardware, drywall installation and finishing, suspended ceilings, trim (window, door, floor, and ceiling), cabinet installation, and more.
Students will earn mobile digital badging of Carpentry Core, Carpentry Level I, and Carpentry Level II from the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) after completion of each level in the program. Upon completion of the program, students will earn a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency from Colorado Mountain College in Basic Carpentry.
This certificate is available at Colorado Mountain College in Vail Valley at Edwards, Leadville, Rifle, and Salida for Concurrent Enrollment Program Act (CEPA) students only.
