Education (BA): Secondary Science and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Pathway

Students pursuing this pathway will earn a BA in Education from Colorado Mountain College.

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) has approved this pathway for a teaching license in Colorado and includes courses to support students in demonstrating professional competency for the following endorsements:

  • Secondary Science Education
  • Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Education

This Pathway is designed to address Colorado’s teacher shortage in rural mountain school districts. The curriculum is focused on general science in order to meet the needs of rural schools often limited to hiring one teacher for all science courses. The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) endorsement is embedded to help teachers successfully teach the rapidly diversifying students in CMC’s partner school districts. Students who have attained an Associates of Arts with an emphasis in Elementary Education or an Associate of Science from CMC or any other Colorado Community College have a clear path to complete this Bachelors of Arts in Education.
