Ski and Snowboard Business: Shop Certificates

These certificates provide students an opportunity to gain the skills necessary to find entry-level employment in a retail ski and snowboard shop.

This curriculum includes many of the courses included in the Associate of Applied Science degree in Ski and Snowboard Business  and credits may be applied toward that degree.

Students must demonstrate acceptable proficiency levels in composition, reading, and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence in which you can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Ski and Snowboard Retail and Repair Technician or Shop Manager. Your advisor will help you develop a schedule that meets your needs.

The Ski and Snowboard Certificates are offered at Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs. Many courses in this program will be offered collegewide via remote/online learning. Not all courses will be offered in a live mode at all campuses and this program will not be fully available through online learning. Please contact a campus counselor or academic advisor at the preferred campus for more information.

CMC also offers certificates in Action Sports , Ski and Snowboard Business , Professional Ski and Snowboard Guide: Level I , Action Sports Media  and Action Sports Technician .

These certificate programs are not eligible for federal student aid funds.

Ski and Snowboard Business: Shop Manager


 This certificate provides students with the skills necessary to advance to a Shop Manager position via a series of proficiencies, including hands-on course work.  Courses highlight the management, supervision and human resource knowledge base needed to successfully manage a snow sport retail operation.  Each course in this certificate enhances a student’s understanding of sales, promotion, and business management competencies.
