The Paralegal certificate is comprised of paralegal and criminal justice courses only, which prepares students for employment as paralegals or legal assistants. Students who earn the Paralegal certificate draft legal documents, conduct client and witness interviews, participate in basic fact-finding, and assist in trial preparation under the supervision of a lawyer.
This certificate curriculum includes many of the courses included in the Associate of Applied Science degree in Paralegal and credits may be applied toward that degree.
Students must demonstrate acceptable proficiency levels in reading and writing as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. For more details see the Academic Placement and Testing section. The Paralegal certificate is offered at all campuses through Colorado Mountain College Online. Please note: some courses are only offered online.
Students should take PAR 115 and PAR 213 prior to enrolling in all other PAR courses. It is also recommended that students take POS 111 prior to enrolling in CRJ 210 .
