NUR 217 - Complex Medical-Surgical II2.0 Credits Co-requisites NUR 212 Acquisition of nursing theory and critical-thinking skills necessary for safe, quality, patient-centered nursing care related to complex medical/surgical problems covering a variety of illnesses affecting patients and their support persons. Emphasizes standards of practice, and the legal and ethical responsibilities of the roles of the professional nurse. Application of critical thinking to planning nursing care including the nursing process, communication techniques, and
teaching/learning principles used when interacting with patients and members of the interprofessional team. The lab component introduces advanced psychomotor skills and the scientific rationales for the skills. The simulation laboratory may be used for practice of psychomotor skills. LEC 30 Clock hours
