   FSW 1042 - S-112 Introduction to Chainsaw Operations

2.0 Credits
Prerequisites: Must be at least 18 years old.
Provides blended training consistent with NWCG S-112 Introduction to Chainsaw Operations. Covers chainsaw safety, OSHA logging standards, risk management, procedural size up, work area control, basic maintenance, limbing, bucking, and directional felling in low-complexity environments. Includes classroom, shop, and field-based performance assessment. Prepares students for trainee assignments as Basic Faller (FAL3) under NWCG standards. This course is approved by the U.S. Forest Service for sawyer certification.
