◆ CHE 111 - General College Chemistry I (GT-SC1)5.0 Credits Prerequisites: Prior completion of CHE 101 (or one year of high school chemistry) and MAT 121 ; or instructor permission. Focuses on basic chemistry and measurement, matter, chemical formulas, reactions and equations, stoichiometry. This course covers the development of atomic theory culminating in the use of quantum numbers to determine electron configurations of atoms, and the relationship of electron configuration to chemical bond theory. The course includes gases, liquids, and solids and problem-solving skills are emphasized through laboratory experiments. The Colorado Commission on Higher Education has approved CHE 111 for inclusion in the Guaranteed Transfer (GT) Pathways program in the GT-SC1 category. For transferring students, successful completion with a minimum C- grade guarantees transfer and application of credit in this GT Pathways category.
