◆ MAT 135 - Introduction to Statistics (GT-MA1)3.0 Credits Prerequisites: Accuplacer Elementary Algebra (EA) score of 61 or higher; or Next Generation Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics (QAS) scores 240-300; or equivalent ACT/SAT scores; or passed MAT-050, MAT-055, or MAT-099 with a C- or better; and Accuplacer Sentence Skills (SS) score of 95 or higher and Reading Comprehension (RC) score of 80 or higher; or Next Generation Accuplacer Writing scores 246-300; or equivalent ACT/SAT scores; or passed CCR 092 , CCR 093 , CCR 094 , or ENG-090 with a grade of C- or better. Introduces descriptive and inferential statistics, with an emphasis on critical thinking and statistical literacy. Topics include methods of data collection, presentation and summarization, introduction to probability concepts and distributions, and statistical inference of one and two populations. This course uses real world data to illustrate applications of a practical nature.
The Colorado Commission on Higher Education has approved MAT 135 for inclusion in the Guaranteed Transfer (GT) Pathways program in the GT-MA1 category. For transferring students, successful completion with a minimum C- grade guarantees transfer and application of credit in this GT Pathways category.
