Continuing Education (CEU) Course and Program Offerings

Continuing education offerings at CMC are created to meet the needs of local communities and industries that need semi-formalized educational opportunities for professional development and training. These programs vary in offering from formal lectures, events, and summits, or formal instruction ranging in duration. CMC Continuing Education learning programs are designed for adults who want to enhance their knowledge, develop new skills, or advance their careers outside of traditional degree programs. CEUs (Continuing Education Units) are assigned to track continuing education learning. Upon completion of some continuing education programs, students can obtain industry certification or credentials.

Continuing Education is designed to meet one of the following criteria:

  1. To maintain and/or improve professional competence.
  2. To document qualifications for renewing licensure, recertification, or registration.
  3. To present evidence of educational and vocational growth.

Many recertification requirements use CEUs as a tool for measurement. Continuing education also offers flexibility in scheduling that is independent of the academic semester periods/calendars. The curriculum is focused on industry standards, not college curriculum. It also offers independent residency-based tuition/fee classification.

CEUs are standardized units that measure participation in non-credit continuing education programs. Learners can track their ongoing education in CEUs. CEUs may be required for maintaining professional licenses or certifications. One CEU at CMC is equivalent to 10 contact hours of instruction. CEUs may be offered in complete units or in fractional units.

Continuing education students pay fees as listed in the continuing education catalog. A special CEU transcript is available.
