Reach Out and Get Help
Colorado Mountain College staff provide a variety of services for students: admissions, housing, counseling, advising, career exploration and planning, veterans’ support services, registration and records, financial aid, student activities, and other services are available.
Staff members are available to assist you with any of your concerns. The Student Basecamp page helps you connect to the support you are looking for. We suggest you make an appointment with the appropriate staff by stopping by a campus or calling.
Academic Advising
Academic advisors, college counselors, and faculty advisors provide academic advising at CMC. Advisors introduce students to the full range of programs and services offered by Colorado Mountain College which includes course scheduling/recommendations and transfer planning. Access, Inclusion & Disability Services
Access, Inclusion & Disability Services at Colorado Mountain College assists students with disabilities with their college experience (ex. classes, residence hall accommodations). Individuals with disabilities who atten or plan to attend CMC may receive reasonable accommodations, academic adjustments, and/or auxiliary aids in order to have equal access in the classroom. Campus Activities and Events
Many campus activities and events occur throughout the school year and are sponsored by Student Government Associationo (SGA), Student Activities Committe (SAC), adn other campus clubs or organizations. You are encouraged to get involved on campus beyond the classroom! Please reach out to campus staff for more information on student clubs and organizations.
Campus Housing
We believe that living on campus is an experience that assists students in becoming successful, both academically and socially. On-campus students have ready access to campus support and services and live in some of the most spectacular locations in the Rocky Mountains.
Residence Halls
New first-year, full-time students attending the residential campuses of Leadville, Spring Valley at Glenwood Springs, and Steamboat Springs, are required to live on campus for one year. Residents who live in the residence hall, must participate in the college Food Service Meal Plan. Any full-time student (12 or more credit hours) is eligible to live on campus. Residence Hall rooms are assigned on a first come, first served basis. Housing is limited and fills quickly so we urge early application completion. Dining Services
Dining services are provided on three residential campuses: Leadville, Spring Valley in Glenwood Springs, and Steamboat Springs. Students living in the residence halls are required to participate in a Dining Services Meal Plan. The dining services staff plans the menus, emphasizing on nutrition and quality. Please see the Meal Plans page for more information on dining services and meal plans. If you have questions, concerns, or specific dietary needs, please reach out to your Campus Dining Services General Manager.
Off campus students, faculty, staff, and community members can also utilize campus dining facilities. Optional meal packages are available through the Student Accounts Office or the dining services cashier.
Campus Apartments
Colorado Mountain College offers apartment-style, student housing at our Breckenridge, Spring Valley, Steamboat Springs, and Vail Valley Edwards locations. The apartments include studio and two bedroom units and are primarily for upper division students who reside and work in mountain communities year-round and are finising their degrees.

College Libraries and Tutoring
The libraries at Colorado Mountain College offer an extensive collection of resources through our physical and online collections. The three libraries are located at our Leadville, Spring Valley, and Steamboat Springs campuses; and there is a virtual librarian available at the Vail Valley Edwards campus. Our online collections can be accesssed remotely and at any campus. Our collections include books, eBooks, videos, music, art, images, audiobooks, career resources, practice tests, journals, magazines, maps, government documents, and more. Librarians can help you with research, library instruction, research guides, tutorials, and free interlibrary loan services. The CMC Libraries page has additional information about our collections and services, including the opportunity to schedule a 1-on-1 appointment with a librarian and access 24/7 research help. Tutoring and Computer Labs
Colorado Mountain College provides additional resources and staff to assist students with their educational needs. Many campuses have tutoring centers, or learning resource centers, offering free tutoring services, supplemental instruction, self-paced skill building, and assistive technology. Computer labs provide access to online resources and educational technology needs. Please see the CMC Tutoring page for more information.
Counseling Services
At CMC, college counselors take on a dual role of providing academic counseling and personal counseling support in a non-clinical role. CMC counselors have a background in personal, career, and educational counseling. They are trained at the master’s level to help students identify and understand problems as well as to determine options and actions to address personal issues impacting their well-being and academic success.
College counselors refer and connect students to mental health clinicians who partner with CMC to offer students in-person and virtual clinical counseling. Learn more or request an appointment by logging onto your Basecamp account and selecting Counseling Services.
Credit for Prior Learning
Learning can take place in environments outside the traditional classroom. Students may be eligible to earn credit for prior work experience when it corresponds to an equivalent course. Please see the Credit for Prior Learning page for more information to discuss with your academic advisor or college counselor.
Over a third of college students across the US report food insecurity. Colorado Mountain College campuses can help connect students to food resources available on campus, ex. campus food pantry, Sodexo’s Swipe Out Hunger program, or in the community. Financial Aid
Colorado Mountain College is dedicated to helping you and your family, access the financial resources needed to help make your college education attainable. To maximize your funding opportunities, your first sep is to complete and submit either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Colorado Application for State Financial Aid (CAFSA), not both. This will help determine your eligibility for various types of financial assistance.
Colorado Mountain College offers many types of financial aid, including federal aid such as the Pell Grant, Work-Study, and Direct Student Loans; Colorado state aid, including grants and Work-Study; Foundation Scholarships are available through one streamlined scholarship application, and Direct PLUS Loans for parents of dependent students. Health and Well-Being
Colorado Mountain College campuses do not have on-campus health services or facilities. The campus staff can refer students to appropriate medical providers in the community. Campus staff can also help contact your instructors if you are ill or contending with an emergency.
International Students
International students are approved to study at Colorado Mountain College through the Student Visa (F1) program prior to beginning their studies. The Department of Homeland Security regulations international student enrollment. International students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) and in traditional, in-person classes, to maintain their immigration status and maintain the academic standards that apply to all students.
All international students should check in with the Designated Student Official (DSO) soon after their arrival on campus or in the U.S. International students with questions regarding U.S. Immigration regulations or who need assistance with American culture, academic problem, or community resources, please contact the Campus DSO or Student Services Office.

Learning Materials Program/Textbooks
The Learning Materials Program (LMP) is a textbook rental program to help keep the cost of textbooks at an affordable rate for students. Please see the Learning Materials Program (LMP) page for more information about textbooks and course materials offered.
No Barriers Funds (NBF)
The No Barriers Fund (NBF) is a college fund, generated from employee and community member donations, available for students with unexpected or emergency financial barriers. Students interested in applying for No Barriers Funds can start by contacting their campus staff support team. To learn more, please see the No Barriers Fund page for more information.
Registration and Student Records
Registration and student records are handled by staff members associated with the Registrar’s Office. Registration staff members are located at every campus to assist with registration, add/drop requests, and other needs concerning student records. Information concerning registration and records can be found in the Academic Catalog, on the Registrar’s page, or by visiting your campus registration staff.

Student Accounts
The Business Office is responsible for billing and collection of all student charges, including but not limited to tuition, course and program fees, learning materials charges, room and board, and other required assessments. Payments or payment arrangements are due before midnight (MST) of the day following registration unless registrations are early enough to qualify for deferred Payment Arrangement Deadlines. The office also administers the college’s online payment plan and adjusts students’ accounts for financial aid, scholarships, grants, refunds, and other changes. All fines and other outstanding account balances must be paid before registering for the next semester.
Student Employment
Students interested in working in an on-campus job, should visit their campus front desk and the CMC Human Resources page. On-campus jobs are often filled by students who have qualified for the Federal/State Work-Study program through financial aid. TRIO Student Support Services
Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program offering free services to eligible students at our Rifle, Glenwood Springs, Spring Valley, Leadville, Steamboat Springs, and Vail Valley Edwards locations.
Participants of Student Support Services must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, degree or certificate seeking, and have a background that includes one or more of the following:
- Income-eligible
- First generation college student (neither parent/guardian has a bachelor’s degree)
- Documented disability
- Foster youth, unaccompanied and/or independent status
Services available to students include, but are not limited to:
- Academic support and guidance
- Career exploration and success seminars
- Transfer advising and transfer visits
- Financial aid assistance: FAFSA completion, scholarship search and application, financial literacy
