Picture of students earning their Environmental Science Emphasis (AS) degree at CMC.This program will prepare students to transfer into a four-year Environmental Science program or, based on electives selected, transfer to an environmentally-related program such as Geology, Environmental Engineering, and Environmental Health.  At CMC this program is a primary pathway to the Bachelor of Arts in Sustainability Studies  degree.

State Guaranteed General Education Requirements


(32 credits minimum across 5 content areas, plus 3 credits of COM required)

Communication (GT-CO1-3)


3 courses.  9 credits total.  6 credits ENG (select either  ENG 121 and ENG 122, or ENG 122 and ENG 201).  Plus 3 credits COM (select either COM 115 or COM 125).

Arts & Humanities


2 courses (6 credit hours)

Social & Behavioral Sciences


2 courses (6 credit hours). Select 2 courses, 1 of which must be History.

Human Behavior & Social Systems (GT-SS3)

Colorado Mountain College Requirements


Colorado Mountain College requires its graduates to be proficient in computer use. To graduate, a student must demonstrate proficiency via an examination administered by the college or take CIS 118 . If you take the course, it will be applied to the elective credit.

Program Electives


23 credits.

You must complete an additional 23 credits in any of the Science or Mathematics disciplines (AST, BIO, CHE, ENV, GEY, MAT, MET, NRE 251  & NRE 252 , PHY) numbered 100-299, marked with a lock or general transfer marked with an asterisk (*) in the Course Description section, CIS 118  may be used if required. Students are strongly encouraged to work with their adviser in order to satisfy transfer requirements to specific four-year institutions.

As an example, students should select a minimum of 23 credits from at least 2 different content areas depending on interests.
