The Dental Hygiene program prepares individuals to clean teeth and apply preventative materials, provide oral health education and treatment counseling to patients, identify oral pathology and injuries, and manage dental hygiene practices. This program includes instruction in dental anatomy, microbiology, and pathology; dental hygiene theory and techniques; cleaning equipment operation and maintenance; dental materials; radiology; patient education and counseling; office management; supervised clinical training; and professional standards.
This program is academically challenging; therefore, students must fulfill preliminary requirements before enrolling in the dental hygiene courses. This program also has admission requirements in addition to those of the college. Please contact an admissions staff member or advisor for more details.
Graduates of the program will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene.
