This program will provide students with the technical skills to put on a wide variety of live events, both in-person and virtual, from plays and concerts to conventions, weddings and festivals – anywhere there are live performers or speakers on stage. Employers of all kinds need people who can set up sound, lighting, staging and livestream video broadcasting of such events, and who can provide other support such as event promotion, ticket sales and access. To meet such employers, students will practice these skills within real-life performance contexts, via internships with our world-class network of partner organizations that produce performing arts and cultural events throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
Colorado Mountain College offers a 9-credit Theatre and Event Production Basics Certificate of Completion consisting of 3 courses. Students who want to go further can continue on to complete this Advanced Theatre & Event Production Certificate of Occupational Proficiency by taking 3 additional courses. Students can utilize CMC’s 2-Year Course Plan to see when the courses are planned to be offered.
Each certificate can stand alone for those who are not seeking a degree, and both can be fully embedded within CMC’s transferable Associate of Arts (AA) degree so that students could also apply this certificate to a Bachelor degree.
Graduates from this program will earn a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Advanced Theatre & Event Production.
This certificate is offered at Colorado Mountain College in Spring Valley at Glenwood Springs.
