Health Science Emphasis (AS)

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The Associate of Science with an emphasis in Health Science program is designed as pathways to entry-level careers in health sciences and/or transfer from CMC to a baccalaureate degree program in pre-professional studies (e.g. medicine, nursing, dentistry, optometry, physician assistant, pharmacy, etc.) and health science. Careers related to health science include but are not limited to nurse, physician, physical therapist, chiropractic, pharmacist, optometrist, dentist, dietician, and health educator.

Students planning on enrolling in CMC’s AAS or BS Nursing programs, should review eligibility and application information found on CMC’s webpage https://coloradomtn.edu/programs/nursing. All general education courses are intended to transfer; elective courses may be accepted on a course-by-course basis. It’s important to work with an advisor to develop an appropriate pathway through the curriculum.

Students must demonstrate college-level proficiency in composition, reading, and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. For more details, see the Academic Placement and Testing  section.

Graduates of the program will receive an Associate of Science degree.

This AS program is available at all CMC locations however, not every course is offered on every campus, some campuses may require travel between sites or technology-enhanced modalities to complete the degree. CMC nursing programs are only available at our Breckenridge, Steamboat, and Spring Valley campuses.

See the section on Scholarships and Awards  for scholarship opportunities related to this program.
