Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Education Endorsement

Students seeking this endorsement must hold a valid Colorado professional (7-year) teacher license.

This Colorado Department of Education (CDE) approved 24-credit (8 course) program prepares you to work with students with widely diverse family and cultural assets. You’ll learn to support the academic and social-emotional development of emergent bilinguals with research-based professional practices and family-friendly approaches to educational excellence. Each course includes assigned practicum hours in a partner school district.

This endorsement is built into the following CMC BA Education Pathways:

Endorsement Requirements

✽ EDU 2351 - Multilingual Learners 3.0 Credits
✽ EDU 2341 - Multicultural Education 3.0 Credits
EDU 3375 - Methods of Primary Literacy Instruction: Learning to Read 3.0 Credits
EDU 3376 - Methods of Intermediate Literacy Instruction 3.0 Credits
EDU 4410 - Intervention and Inclusion: Differentiation for Exceptional Students 3.0 Credits
Students who have followed the Education (BA): Elementary Education & Early Childhood Education Pathway will have covered most of the content for this endorsement but would need to take the following 3 additional courses if they would like to add this endorsement to their license:
- EDU 3370 Foundations in English Language Arts in the Elementary Classroom 3.0 Credits
- EDU 3380 Language Acquisition and Literacy for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Learners 3.0 Credits
- EDU 3381 Adapting Instruction and Assessment for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) Learners 3.0 Credits
