The Pharmacy Technician Certificate of Occupational Proficiency provides the necessary training to prepare students for the pharmacy technician exam that will allow students to work in a pharmacy setting. Colorado Mountain College is a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training program. As a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program, those who have completed the program will be eligible to apply for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). A pharmacy technician, under the guidance of a licensed pharmacists, may mix, sort, and label prescription medications. Pharmacy technicians work in hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies.
Students must demonstrate an adequate level of proficiency in composition, reading and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. The Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Pharmacy Technician is offered a Colorado Mountain College in Rifle but is available collegewide via technology-enhanced modalities. Please see an advisor for more information.
Program credits 29.5. For federal student aid purposes, this program is defined as 17 credit hours, 30 weeks of instruction and is financial aid eligible.
