Nursing (BSN)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), RN-BSN. Registered Nurses (RN’s) work in fast-paced health care environments that demand the ability to quickly analyze information, precisely communicate with other team members, and execute interventions. The RN-BSN program is an academic progression model that builds upon a student’s nursing knowledge and clinical experiences gained in the previous nursing program. Students will broaden the scope of their knowledge with greater emphasis on nursing theory, community health, population-focused care, research and evidence-based practices and leadership. Evidence-based practice uses current nursing and medical research incorporated into quality, safe patient care techniques creating professional nursing practice. Nursing as a science is based in research, both qualitative and quantitative, that is used to guide and create professional nursing practice.

A student who has graduated from a regionally accredited* Associate Degree Nursing program (ADN) or accredited diploma program and has a current unencumbered nursing license to practice in Colorado may apply for the RN-BSN program. Students must submit the BSN nursing application with the required documents. Students should contact their assigned CMC academic advisor with further questions.

*CCCS (Colorado Community College System) policy BP 9-71 Transfer Credit): Credit can only be transferred from “regional accrediting associations”. CMC is unable to make exceptions to this rule. The sending institution must have been regionally accredited for the entire time the student was earning the applicable credits.

An admission packet can be obtained by downloading the Nursing Application or by contacting the Assistant Director of Admissions for Nursing. Students must receive a C or better in all required program courses to meet nursing degree requirements. Alternative credit by exam, ex. CLEP testing, AP, or IB tests, do not substitute for any required courses.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is offered online with limited clinical hours required to meet the needs of the working RN. This program requires technology-enhanced modalities to complete the degree. For more information, please see Academic Programs at Colorado Mountain College.

The RN to BSN program has been approved by the Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).  The RN-BSN program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
