The Basic Culinary Skills Certificate provides the skills necessary to obtain an entry-level position in one of the fastest growing service industries. Students will gain essential skills in food preparation, food safety and basic cooking techniques. Students will be able to demonstrate these skills in order to show the value of this certificate to potential employers.
The certificate includes many courses included in the Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts- Vail Valley and the Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts- Apprenticeship and courses may be applied toward those degrees.
Students must demonstrate acceptable proficiency levels in composition and reading as prerequisites for courses within this certificate. Skills in this area may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Basic Culinary Skills.
