SAO 1068 - Avalanche Technician Training I3.0 Credits
Co-requisites SAO 1069 , SAO 1058 , and SAO 1065 must be taken concurrently.
Prerequisites: Prior completion of SAO 1066 with a grade of C- or higher.
Provides practical application and integration of skills and concepts from Snow and Avalanche Science, Snow, Weather, and Avalanche Observations, and Forecasting 1. This course focuses on practicing safe travel techniques in avalanche terrain, developing essential small-group rescue skills, and refining the observation and recording of weather, snowpack, and avalanche data. Through hands-on instruction and coaching, the course builds skills in assessing snow stability, making informed backcountry decisions, and performing effective rescues.
