Access, Inclusion & Disability Services
CMC is committed to providing quality educational support for the diverse needs of its students. Access, Inclusion & Disability Services strives to create an accessible and inclusive campus environment. Access Coordinators, located at campuses across the college, collaborate with faculty and staff to provide appropriate and reasonable accommodations to qualified students with a disability to enable full participation in college programs, services and activities.
Students with a disability seeking a reasonable accommodation should submit a request for accommodation via the online platform Accommodate to facilitate accommodations. A request for an accommodation initiates the interactive process facilitated by the Access Coordinator.
For more information concerning Disability Services or to submit a request for accommodations, please see the CMC Access, Inclusion & Disabilities Services page or contact the Access Coordinator for your campus.
Academic Support
Learning Labs
The learning labs are a great resource to support you in being successful at CMC. Learning Labs offer help in mathematics, reading, writing class assignments, High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation, Accuplacer preparation and college-level courses. Work at your own pace and level in small groups or one-on-one with tutors or instructors in the areas you need assistance. Visit the CMC Academic Support page for more details.
Tutoring
Tutoring is available for students who need additional help to succeed in a course both in-person and online. At times, a student requires assistance beyond that which a faculty member can reasonably be expected to provide outside of the classroom. Students can request a tutor, drop in during scheduled tutoring hours (in-person or online), or faculty may refer a student to the Learning Labs or to a College Counselor/Advisor if a specific subject tutor needs to be provided. Some campuses maintain a list of tutors that will be provided to students upon request. You can find more information regarding both in-person and online tutoring services on the CMC Tutoring page.
Advising & Career Services
Academic Advising
A successful education begins with advising. We strongly recommend that you seek out an Advisor before registering to develop a meaningful and successful program of study. College Counselors, Academic Advisors, and Faculty Advisors can introduce you to the full range of programs and services offered by Colorado Mountain College that support your educational and occupational goals. All students are encouraged to use Student Planning, an online registration tool accessible via Basecamp to explore academic programs, build schedules and register for classes. To get access to Student Planning, contact your College Counselor/Advisor or the front desk at your campus.
It is also important to work closely with your College Counselor/Advisor to ensure successful graduation or transfer of your credits to four-year institutions. Don’t hesitate to ask a College Counselor/Advisor for help as questions arise.
Programs to help you build your college-ready skills are found on the CMC Academic Support page.
Career Exploration and Planning
Career Services supports the career development of students, offering self-assessment inventories, career exploration tools, virtual programs, special events, job search guidance and a variety of online resources. Staff at each campus provide career counseling, career classes and group workshops. Students also have access to Handshake, the online career management platform, which hosts a job board and additional career resources.
Counseling
This section describes the counseling and advising services available at Colorado Mountain College.
Personal Counseling
Support is available when you need it. Currently enrolled students are eligible for six mental health clinical counseling sessions each semester. CMC partners with clinical counselors to offer sessions both in-person and via telehealth. Counseling Services on Basecamp provides information on how to connect with a counselor, clinician, and other resources to support students’ mental health and well-being.
At CMC, college counselors take on a dual role of providing academic advising and personal support in a non-clinical role. Advisors assist with exploring options, building academic plans, and accessing resources and academic supports. Talk with a CMC Counselor or Advisor to be referred to mental health clinicians who partner with CMC to offer in-person and virtual clinical counseling for students.
YOU@CMC is a student portal designed to provide students with resources at the right time, so you are better able to deal with issues and life events that occur in college. YOU emphasizes individual well-being and self-awareness in order to connect students to information, campus resources, peers and opportunities - 24/7.
Financial Aid
Colorado Mountain College is committed to helping you (and your parents) find the money you need for your education. Colorado Mountain College offers a variety of financial aid award types, including federal, state and privately funded grants, over 500 institutional scholarships, work-study opportunities and several loan options. In addition to programs based on financial need, CMC provides scholarships to recognize a student’s outstanding ability and talent. Contact a Financial Aid Specialist for more information.
International Students
All international students should check in with the Designated Student Official (DSO) soon after their arrival on campus. The Department of Homeland Security regulates international student enrollment. If you have questions regarding these regulations or need assistance with American culture, academic problems, or community resources, please contact the Campus DSO or Student Services Office.
International students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more) to maintain their immigration status and maintain the academic standards that apply to all students.
Registration & Student Records
Registration and student records are handled by staff members associated with the Registrar’s Office. Registration staff members are located at every campus to assist with registration, add/drop requests and other needs concerning student records. Information regarding registration and records can be found in the Academic Catalog, on the Registrar page or by visiting your campus registration staff.
Transcripts may be requested from the Registrar’s Office. Forms and directions can be found on the Transcripts page.
Student Accounts
The Business Office is responsible for billing and collection of all student charges, including but not limited to tuition, course and program fees, learning materials charges, room and board and other required assessments. Students are required to have payment arrangements for the full amount due at the time of registration. Payment arrangements include financial aid, a payment plan or payment in full. The Business Office also administers the college’s online payment plan and adjusts students’ accounts for financial aid, scholarships, grants, refunds and other changes. All fines and other outstanding account balances must be paid before registering for the next semester.
Student Employment
If you plan to work part-time while attending school, visit your campus’s Student Services Office as soon as possible. They can provide information about part- and full-time job opportunities throughout the community. On-campus jobs are often filled by students who have qualified for a work-study program through Financial Aid. Limited employment opportunities for Colorado resident students who do not demonstrate “need” under a work-study program may also be available. Check with a Financial Aid Specialist for information about such positions.
A variety of employment positions are available in the community. See Handshake, the online career management platform, which hosts a job board and additional career resources.
