Applied Engineering: Electrical Industrial Instrumentation Technician Certificate



Picture of a student working towards his Industrial Instrumentation Controls Technician Certificate at CMC.This certificate program will provide the concepts of automatic control, industrial electrical operations, and safety considerations for those employed in the field of industrial instrumentation. Process characteristics, control applications, and an introduction to standard instrument symbology, terminology, P&IDs and loop drawings will be presented. Topics include pneumatic, electronic, digital, and mechanical devices and systems.

Students must demonstrate acceptable proficiency levels in composition, reading, and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which students can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. Graduates of the program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Electrical Industrial Instrumentation Technician. Please see your advisor for a recommended sequence of courses.

The Electrical Industrial Instrumentation Technician Certificate of Occupational Proficiency is offered at West Garfield Campus - Rifle. 

For federal student aid purposes, this program is defined as 29 credit hours, 30 weeks on instruction and is financial aid eligible.

Applied Engineering


These programs bring together skill sets that prepare students for entry-level employment in the rapidly growing field of energy, including non-renewable areas related to oil and gas production, renewable energy, and sustainability.  Additionally, students already employed in energy or related fields can receive additional skills for career advancement.  Students learn in an interactive, hands-on lab setting focusing on natural gas and petroleum production, developing alternative energy solutions, and renewable energy technologies.  These certificates are offered at Colorado Mountain College in Rifle.
