Process Technology: Process Technology Operator Certificate



Picture of work with a Process Technology Operator Certificate from CMC.This program is  designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in process plant operations and up-stream oil and gas operations. Process technicians ensure safety, health, and other environmental practices and standards in all areas of process activities. This program educates and develops technicians who will control and monitor various industrial ventures and plant processes.

Employment opportunities include petrochemical and refining, food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical and bio-manufacturing, paper and pulp, oil and gas exploration and production, energy and power generation, water and waste water treatment, chemical and agricultural manufacturing, environmental testing, and brewing and distilling processes.

Students must demonstrate college-level proficiency in reading, writing, and mathematics as prerequisites for courses within this program. Skills in these areas may affect the sequence of courses in which you can enroll and may also extend the time required to complete this program. Graduates of this program will receive a Certificate of Occupational Proficiency in Process Technology Operator.

The Process Technology Operator certificate is offered at West Garfield Campus - Rifle. The certificate is the first step toward the AAS degree in Process Technology.  For federal student aid purposes, this program is defined as 37 credit hours and 45 weeks.

Integrated Energy


These programs bring together skill sets that prepare students for entry-level employment in the rapidly growing field of energy, including non-renewable areas related to oil and gas production, renewable energy, and sustainability.  Additionally, students already employed in energy or related fields can receive additional skills for career advancement.  Students learn in an interactive, hands-on lab setting focusing on natural gas and petroleum production, developing alternative energy solutions, and renewable energy technologies.  These certificates are offered at West Garfield Campus - Rifle.
